One Day Gnostic Retreat

"I want to remind you of the meaning of blue in Advent. Blue is the color of Advent, not purple-even though it was used instead of blue, for many generations. Purple is penitential and belongs to Lent. The deep blue of Advent reminds us of the night sky and the contrasting light shining in the darkness."
-Fr. George Wertin

There will be a one day Gnostic Retreat offered on Saturday Dec the 13th. This will be a day of ritual, mediation, prayer and silence. We will explore the meaning of Advent from a Gnostic perspective focus on the birth of the Indwelling Christos at Yule. All are welcome to attend, no membership or even need to consider oneself as Gnostic is needed. Details will be added later to this same post.
In the meanwhile you may email if you are interested in joining us.

More Gnostic Retreat Pictures

These are from the procession during the Sophia Service. I will post more detail on this later as well as some pics that DLS took while we were giving the blessing and meditating.

Our Family of Gnostics

In some of our prayers at mass and in the OSE office of Compline we use the term 'The family of Gnostics'. While on retreat I realized just how varried and wonderful the family of Gnostics truely is. We had seven people attnend the retreat in Seattle and several others that were with us in our retreat from afar. In addition we had the support and fellowship of others that could not make it do to changes in their plans, but that were with us in spirit. I would like to take a moment to give then all credit and to the different churches and organizations that they belong to as a way of thanking all these groups for their support and fellowship and completly disproving the theory that no two Gnostic groups get along!
I have listed in no paticular order these groups other than it is the way that they popped into my head. I may have forgotton some, I may not know of others as many people are in more than one grop or church. So, please email me if I left one out and I will add it!

The Gnostic Church of St. Mary Magdalene
The Ecclesia Gnostica
The Apostolic Johannite Church
St. Paul's Episcopal Church
Sakya Monastery of Tibetian Buddhism
Sophia Fellowship
The Liberal Catholic Church
The Order of St. Esclarmonde
The Order of Allogenes
The Hermetic Order of the Holy Fire
The Palm Tree Garden
Indepented Gnostic and Buddhist pracitioners

Thank you one and all!

The Sacrament of the Apple

On Sunday afternoon Brother Jeremy Puma lead The Sacrament of the Apple. A ritual that he wrote based on a dream that he had. Sarah did a magnificent job as deaconess for this service. Here are a few pictures from that ritual as well as a couple group pictures for everyone to enjoy. I hope you can see the pictures of two of our participants in the 'Retreat From Afar'. We had four other people decided to try the retreat from afar idea rather last minute so we didn't have pictures of them and they missed out on the files I sent. Instead they joined us in spirit secluded in their own homes. The top picture is of Frater DLS holding the Orphic Egg that he purchased for the chapel just a few days before the retreat began.

Gnostic Retreat Pictures

Below are a few of the pictures that Frater DLS took of us while at St. Paul's on Saturday. We walked the labyrinth and then sat in the shade and prayed the Holy Gnostic Rosary.

Walking the labyrinth was a deeply moving experience. Here, three of our participants have begun the journey inward to the center of 'Being'

Some of us enjoyed the labyrinth more than others. ;) We love ya!

The lovely Sarah enjoys the silence and solace amidst the busy Seattle city life.

Rev Mother and Darius have a moment to hug and renew old spiritual friendships.

We only took pictures on a couple of occasions and more will be up soon. Everyone that participated will be sending me their reviews and insights on the retreat so we can see what worked well and what could stand to improve for the next one. I would like to thank everyone for their understanding of our impromptu gnostic field trip to Pike Place Market so that DLS could pick up a new vajra and bell for his spiritual practice.

Blessings,
Rev. Mother Marsha
